The Werris Creek open cut mine is located 4 kms south of Werris Creek on the Quirindi road. Werris Creek is mined using contractor truck and excavator producing up to 1.5 million tonnes per annum as raw coal for the export market.

Canyon
The Canyon (formerly Whitehaven) open cut mine is located 15 km east of Boggabri. Annual production is up to 1 million tonnes, all of which is exported.
Tarrawonga Mine
The Tarrawonga open cut mine commenced production in 2006. The mine is located 16 km north-east of Boggabri. Coal is trucked 40 km to the Gunnedah CHPP for selective washing and loading onto rail for transport to Newcastle.
Rocglen Project
Located 28 km north of Gunnedah on the Wean road the Rocglen (formerly Belmont) open cut project is due to commence in 2008 following the completion of operations at Whitehaven.
Narrabri North Project
The Narrabri North Project is located between Boggabri and Narrabri within Exploration Licence 6243. An Environmental Assessment for Stage 1 of the project can be viewed here. Initial production using continuous miners will be 1.5 million tonnes per year. A rail loop will be constructed for rail transport of coal from the project site to Newcastle for export.
Sunnyside Project
The Sunnyside open cut project site is located 15 km west of Gunnedah and will produce up to 1 million tonnes per year of raw coal for the export market.
