Graduates from this program will be suitable for employment in health care facilities which are directly involved in various aspects of cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation.
School Leavers must have completed Year 10 or equivalent with a Sound Achievement in English
Applicants are selected according to eligibility and merit; vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies
Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds should have proficiency in reading, writing and comprehension skills.
For students undertaking a vocational placement in a Queensland Health facility, completion of the Hepatitis B vaccination course prior to commencement is mandatory. (Completion of a full course of vaccinations takes at least three months)
It is a mandatory industry requirement that all students obtain a valid First Aid Certificate (HLTFA301C Apply first aid) prior to completion of the program. This training is offered by the Southbank Institute of Technology. Please refer to the brochure for HLTFA301C for further information.
Flexible 1 year
Correspondence is mostly self-paced. Students should be aware of the official close of studies date for each unit they enrol into and pace their enrolments accordingly.
It may be possible for students to participate in the program using a combination of flexible and part-time delivery.
