What will I get out of this program
This program will assist students to develop knowledge and skills to work within the aged care sector and to assist with personal care. Vocational Placement is carried out in aged care residential facilities under supportive guidance. The program is suitable for people with no previous experience in aged care, as well as people already working in a related field, such as in a different role in residential aged care or community aged care.
What job opportunities will I have
Upon successful completion of this program students may seek employment as an assistant in nursing or personal care assistant, community support worker, a home care assistant or community care work in an aged care facility.
Do I need to have prior knowledge or work experience
There are no entry requirements for this program, however applicants must have the ability to bear a significant amount of weight when transferring physically dependent clients, as well as the ability to communicate and comprehend via a range of oral, written, and electronic methods.
What can I study after this
After successful completion of the Certificate III in Aged Care students may consider further study in the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing), Bachelor of Nursing or a range of community and human services programs (eg the dual Certificate III in Aged Care/Certificate III in Home and Community Care). Students who have completed the Certificate III in Aged Care with BNIT in the past 2 years are eligible to apply (via direct entry) to the Diploma of Nursing.
