About Warwick Resources

Warwick Resources Kununurra While visiting Western Australia in the Kimberley region, make sure to take time and visit the town of Kununurra. When travelling to this quaint little town, be sure to make a stop at the East Kimberley Tourism House. The friendly folks at the House are there to help and can book accommodations, as well as providing information on the must see areas of the region. One must see attraction in the area is the Ivanhoe Crossing, which was part of the original roadway to the town of Wyndham. It is now the location of an irrigated river that flows all year round and makes the causeway impassable during the wet season. It is also a great place to have a picnic; however, standing on or swimming near the crossing is not recommended due to the presence of Salt River Crocodiles. The Diversion Dam is trendy spot to visit when staying in the area; the dam is responsible for supplying water to the areas both north and south of the dam. The Lions Park picnic area is located nearby and provides tourists with some excellent photos of the dam structure. Lake Kununurra was created after the damn was completed and provides the town with a stunning waterfront view. Fishing in the Kimberley area is among the best in all of Australia and is famous for its abundance of the country?s highly rated fish, the Barramundi, which is Aboriginal for large scale fish. The Cambridge Gulf is the main body of water where the rivers of the area flow into. The Gulf is home to many different species of fish including Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon, Mangrove Jack, Fingermark Bream and Mulloway. With the addition of the dams in the area, the Ord River has become a great habitat for fish because there is a constant water flow. With the constant flow of water, the Barramundi are able to swim upstream easier and thus migrate to lay eggs. In recent years, the residents of the area have created a committee designated to ensure the angling is available for future generations of fishermen. Natural wonders, breathtaking scenery, high quality fishing… what else could one else ask for The town of Kununurra has it all and should be added to the list of places to see when visiting Western Australia. Don?t delay; make plans today to visit this beautiful and majestic destination! Comments are closed. Copyright © 2012 Warwick Resources. All Rights Reserved.
